It is well known fact that with mention "siamese cat" most people will associate it with definite colouration scheme – bright body, dark muzzle, ears and limbs and tail. Not so long ago this colour scheme was really inherent to siamese cats only, but nowadays most breeds added this scheme to their coats and even skins, adding new accessories as tabby, shading and bi-colour. British cats also followed that tendency What is this new for british cats color about? Under definite genes (see colouration genetics for details) pigment allocation goes in the way that coloured zones move to limbs, that formes more dark then main coat markings also known as points when body is almost discolored (only light shade presents to the tone of main colour). Also with such colouration scheme cat will certainly have blue eyes. There are theories about coat dyed and that it depends of temperature and light regime, but as for me I incline mostly to blood lines and feeding. This is based only on my personal observation, and I do not pretend to be the only truth, but want to notice that friendly European catteries which keep their pets in aviary outside and animals are outside all of the year, colour-points have very good contrast of coat and points. Also having 2 pets of these lines (by the way prefering to sit at the open window) I do not see aby reaction to light and cold. And at the same time I saw several home-kept cats with bad contrast of points and coat. What is about blue eyes - that is nothing but pigment absence in mid layer of iris with coloured bottom layer. I can say with confidence that the most saturated blue will be in the eyes with yellow or green bottom layer, and orange layer will give grey insignificant eye-colour. But as inheritance of main eye-colour is not studied well that makes very hard to choose right sires under this attribute. Despite of the complexity and lack of experience more breeders become interested in it. Standard: Body is to be lighter in tone Points are well marked Body and points are in good contrast Eye-colour - blue (saturation is preferable) All others are as for solid british cats Colour-point coding and variation:
If the tabby presents "lynx" should be added to colour name and "21" to the colour code For example:
